MFT December Release Countdown Day 5

Hello and welcome to MFT Countdown Kickoff! Once again, the new release is filled with amazing products you're going to love. Make sure to stop by the MFT Blog every day for the next five days to see the full reveal of the new products.

Today, I'm sharing a fun hidden slidder card featuring the adorable Town Bear stamp set.

You will find links to the products I used at the bottom of this post.  Please note, all the links for the new items will not work until December, 5th at 9pm EST (Release Day).

To begin, I stamped the images from the Town Bear on a blending card and colored them with Copic markers. I cut them out with the coordinating dies.

To create my card front, I die-cut Bristol paper to an A2 sized panel and added the puffy clouds using the cloud stencil and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide.

Next, I blended the die-cut hill panels with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide. I die-cut the taller hill panel with the straight slider die from the new Open Road Die-namics. I extended the slider channel to almost the width of the card. I thought it would be fun to have the car move back and forth for a longer distance. Then, die-cut the road with gray cardstock. To finish, I adhered all the elements together.

Please note, I built the slider mechanism as I normally do on the taller hill panel. To keep the slider hidden I added a thin strip of acetate to the front of the sliding element ( I used dimes) and adhered the bear to the top of the acetate with a small foam tape. Then, I covered it with the shorter hill panel.  Since the bear is attached to the acetate only on top, I moved it to the front of the shorter hill panel.

Another helpful note is to use two layers of foam tape for the back and front of the taller hill panel (making sure to leave enough room around the slider channel). This will give the slider enough room to move back and forth smoothly.

Video of the moving car.

Don't forget to visit the countdown post at MFT Blog  and leave a comment there for your chance to win a $75 prize.

Thank you for stopping by today and I'll see you again tomorrow for Countdown Day 4!

Mama Elephant Designer Series - Lion Dance

Hi crafty friends!  I have a fun floating floor pop-up card to share with you featuring the Lion Dance stamp set from Mama Elephant. The card depicts a colorful and festive Lunar New Year celebration, with the Lion Dance.

Inside of the card

To begin, I colored the images from Lion Dance with Copic markers and cut them out with the coordinating Creative Cuts.

I made my card base by trimming Bristol paper to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and scored it at 4 1/4". To create the sky, I inked the front and the inside of the card base with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide.

Front of the card

I die-cut Bristol paper with the hill borders from Landscape Trio Creative Cuts to be used for the front and the inside of the card. I used Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide to ink blend the hill panels. I added splatters of water to the ink blended sky and the hill panels to add texture.

I die-cut gray and black cardstock with the Cityscape Creative Cuts. I adhered the Cityscape panel (for the gray one I have the back facing front) and one of the hill panels to the inside of the card. Then, I adhered the other hill panel to the card front.

To make the floating floor, I trimmed light gray cardstock to 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" and scored lines at 1/2",  3 1/2" and 4".  I trimmed 1 1/2" long and 1/4" wide strips and folded them to an L shape. I laid out the images as shown on the floating floor, and used a craft knife to make the slits a little wider than 1/4" wide right underneath the images.

I folded at the scored lines and adhered the floating floor as shown and inserted the L shaped strips into the slits (the bottom of the L gets taped to the card base). This allows the images to pop up when you open the card. Then, I adhered the images to the strip, trimming it if it was too long. At this point, I adhered the other images to the card front.

The sentiment was stamped with Versamark ink on black cardstock and embossed with white embossing powder. I adhered it to the front of the floating floor. That's all for today!

I colored the adorable images from Bitty Bears and the party hat from BB Happy Hippos with Copic markers. I die-cut the images with the coordinating dies and adhered them to the front panel with dimensional foam tape. I die-cut the Grapesicle card stock with the Party Banner and adhered that to the card front with dimensional tape as well.

Once again, I tried to use the colors from the challenge for my card front. I used the snow drift stencil to create the waves and snow hills with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide. I stamped the sentiment from Polar Pals with Faded Jeans Distress Oxide.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 360

Hi there! It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another fun MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge.

The card I made inspired by the new sketch features the adorable Friends In The Forest stamp set. I colored the images with Copic markers and cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics.

I started the front panel by die-cutting Bristol paper with the largest die from Stitched Mod Rectangle Stax Die-namics. Then, I die-cut masking paper with the Birch Tree Die-namics. I adhered the cut-out masks to the panel. After, I covered the bottom with the snow drift stencil and inked it with dye inks. Using the same dies, I die-cut two white birch trees that were adhered to the front panel with foam tape. I added shading to the trees with Copic markers.

I splattered diluted Copic Opaque White Ink to the front panel as well as the images add snow element to the card. Then I adhered the sentiment that I die-cut using the small strip from Blueprints 27. I used foam tape to adhere all the images for dimension.

I hope you play along with this week's sketch challenge. You can enter for a chance to win a $50 GC to the MFT online store. For more details click HERE.

Mama Elephant Stamp Highlight - Lovely Piggies

Hello, crafty friends! I'm here today with Mama Elephant highlighting the adorable Lovely Piggies and the coordinating Creative Cuts

I love making cards that tell a story, here the cupid is shooting his arrows at the adorable couple and they're going to fall in love and live happily ever after...awww, right?! I took it a step further and made it interactive by creating a hidden slider where the cupid moves back and forth across the cloud.

I colored the images from Lovely Piggies with Copic markers and cut them out with the coordinating Creative Cuts. I used white Gelly Roll pen to add accents.

I inked an A2 sized Bristol paper with Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry Distress Inks to be used as my front panel. Then, I die-cut another A2 sized Bristol paper with the hill and the cloud dies from On The Hills Creative Cuts. I inked the hill panel with Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn and then lightly inked the cloud panel with Spun Sugar Distress Inks.

I cut apart the sentiment "Happily Ever After" from  Scripty Notes to stamp it going across instead of down on the short hill panel. The cut pieces can be put back together to stamp in the original layout.

To build my slider, I die-cut the top of the front panel with the longer slider die from Straight Slider Creative Cuts. I added a penny to the back and the front of the die-cut space with a small square foam tape in between to adhere them together. Then, I added a trimmed acetate to the front penny to attach the cupid.

I mounted the front panel with two layers of dimensional foam tape to the card base and I also used two layers of foam tape to attach the cloud panel to the front. The space between the layers allows for the cupid to slide smoothly back and forth.

To finish, I attached the hill panel and the images to the front panel with foam tape as shown.

Don't forget to visit Mama Elephant to see more inspiration from the Design Team using the Lovely Piggies set.

Thank you so much for stopping by and have a wonderful week ahead!
