MFT MAY RELEASE - TIPS AND TRICKS

Hello there! Welcome to My Favorite Things Tips and Tricks.

Today, I'm sharing how I make my patterned paper thicker to use it as a frame for my projects. This tip is also great for when you're making pop up boxes or shadow boxes with patterned paper.

In the past. when I used to use patterned paper as frames, I die-cut white card stock first with a frame die and die-cut patterned paper with the same die. Then, I tried to adhere the two together. Many times, I couldn't cleanly attach the two layers and I would have to start all over again, wasting precious paper.

Now, I adhere my trimmed patterned paper to Ultimate Crafts Die-cut'n Bond Double Tape (it comes in a huge roll; I love it). Since it's double sided, I adhere trimmed white card stock on the other side. I like to use Neenah 80lb, which gives me the perfect thickness. This is my tip today! :)

For my card, I followed the steps above and die-cut the prepared patterned paper with Gift Box Cover- Up Dienamics. Now I have a nice and sturdy patterned frame to work with it!

To make the background panel, I trimmed white card stock to the size of the frame and inked just the bottom of the areas that would show with Sno Cone Premium Dye Ink. To add texture, I spritzed it with water and added splatters of Sno Cone ink. Then, I foam mounted the frame on top of the background panel.

I foam mounted the images from Hello, Little One (such a sweet stamp set) that I colored with Copic markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I then adhered the die-cut embossed sentiment. To finish, I glued on 5mm Sparkling Clear Stars for more interest and shine

I hope you enjoyed my project and found my tip helpful.
Below is another project that I shared recently, where I used the same process to thicken my patterned paper.
