MFT - AUGUST HITS AND HIGHLIGHTS

Hello! I'm playing along with this month's Hits and Highlights from MFT.

Here is the challenge for the team:

Make a Splash
It’s July! The heart of summer calls for diving into your crafting head-first. Summer fun is a (cool) breeze to integrate into your card making thanks to an endless variety of MFT products featuring sun, sand, and water.

For my card today, I created a beach scene featuring the super cute BB Penguins in Paradise stamp set.

I Copic colored the stamped images from BB Penguins in Paradise and cut them out.

I created the clouds using the Mini Cloud Stencils on trimmed A2 sized Bristol cardstock. For the clouds, sky, water, and sand, I used Distress Oxides with a blending tool.

I added Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink with a Sponge Dauber and white gel pen where the water hits the sand to create sea foam on the panel.

I foam mounted the images to the panel and adhered it to a top folding card base.

Visit today's Hits and Highlights for more inspiration from the MFT design team.
Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great day!

MFT WEDNESDAY SKETCH CHALLENGE 395

This week's sketch challenge #395

My card inspired by the sketch:

I Copic colored the lion and his stand from the Greatest Show stamp set and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

To make the front panel, I used the Geometric Stars Stencil and ink blended with Distress Oxides.

I heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of vellum that I cut out to match the sketch, and adhered it with tiny dots of scattered glue. To cover up the glue spots, I adhered the stars that I made by die-cutting Silver Sparkle cardstock with the stars die from Stitched Strip Die-namics. To finish, I foam mounted the lion and stand.

MFT - BUNDLE OF BALLOONS RELEASE DAY

Hello and welcome! The MFT Bundle of Balloons card kit is now available for purchase HERE.

I have one more card to share with you using this awesome, versatile kit. For today's card, I used the Bundle of Balloons Die-namics that are included in the kit for a fun celebration card.

Using white cardstock, I die-cut a bunch of balloons and strings using the Bundle of Balloons Die-namics. Then, I used an assortment of Premium Dye Inks (colors listed under supplies) and inked die-cuts with sponge daubers. After, I added white highlights using a gel pen and glued the strings to the back of the balloons. Not up for inking these balloons? You can replace them with colored or glittered cardstocks from the kit.

To make the colorful rays on the front panel, I used the Radiating Rays stencil with Premium Dye Inks. After I removed the stencil, I lightly went over the white areas with the coordinating colors and added splatters of inks of the same colors mixed with water to the panel.

To finish, I adhered the balloons with adhesive or foam tapes to the card front. Then, I foam mounted the sentiment that was embossed.

Just in case you missed, here are the other two projects I made with the kit.

MFT - JULY CARD KIT DAY 2

Hi there! Thank you so much for joining me on Day 2 of the MFT July Card Kit, Bundle of Balloons countdown.

For today's card, I used the Bundle of Balloons stamp set and Smooth White cardstock from the kit along with an assortment of Premium Dye Inks.

For the two stitched panels, I die-cut Smooth White cardstock with the two largest dies from an A2 Stitched Rectangle Stax 1. On the smaller panel, I stamped the balloons with Premium Dye Inks (see supplies for colors). To add dimension to the card, I foam mounted the front panel to the larger stitched panel.

The sentiment was white embossed on black cardstock. Then, I die-cut the sentiment with a die from Hearts in a Row Horizontal Die-namics and adhered it to the front panel.

Thank you for joining me today. I hope to see you again tomorrow for my Bundle of Balloons card kit release day project. Visit the MFT Blog for more details.

MFT - JULY CARD KIT DAY 1

Hello friends! Welcome to Day 1 of the MFT Card Kit Countdown. This month, we have a fabulous kit called Bundle of Balloons.

Today, I'm sharing a birthday card using the Bundle of Balloons Die-namics, the gorgeous and really sparkly Blu Raspberry and Boysenberry glitter cardstock from the kit, and the mid-month free with $60 Birthday Girl Die-namics.

I ink blended the front panel to match the colors of the die-cut glitter balloons with Wilted Violet and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxides. After, I sprayed water on the panel using the Mini Mister.

I die-cut the stars using star dies from Stitched Strip Die-namics to add more interest to the card.

To assemble the card, I glued on the stars, the "Birthday" sentiment, and foam mounted the balloons and "Girl" sentiment to the front panel.

Thank you for visiting me today! I hope you'll join me again tomorrow for my day 2 project!

MFT WEDNESDAY SKETCH CHALLENGE 394

This week's Wednesday Sketch challenge #394

My card inspired by the sketch:

This new sketch was a perfect opportunity for me to play with some of the awesome products from the MFT July Release. The card features Gift Shaker Window and Frame Die-namics, Gift Shaker Pouches, and the Sassy Pants Birthday Greetings.

I trimmed Bubblegum cardstock to an A2 size and inked the bottom towards the middle going from darker to lighter with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide. Then, to add more interest, I added white splatters of Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink that I diluted a little with water. After, I stamped the sentiment from Sassy Birthday Greeting stamp set with Extreme Black Hybrid Ink.

I die-cut the front panel with the dies from Gift Shaker Window and Frame Die-namics in order to create windows in the front for the Gift Shaker Pouches. Using the same set, I die-cut the frame for the outside of the box and the bow using Cotton Candy Sparkle Cardstock. I added 3mm Sparkling Clear Sequins in the pouches and closed the back with patterned paper from Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots Pastel Paper Pack.

JULY MFT AND FRIENDS

Hello crafty friends! I'm playing along with the My Favorite Things monthly feature MFT and Friends.

My fun circus-themed box card features the adorable The Greatest Show stamp set from the recent July release.

I colored the stamped images from The Greatest Show with Copics and cut them out with the coordinating dies. Note - the balloons are from BB Happy Hippos, and the banners are from BB Up In The Air.

Want to learn how to make a quick and easy box card? You can watch the video here by Stephanie.

For the decorative panels, I used patterned paper from Rainbow Stripes and Lucky Prints Paper Packs. The sentiment was heat embossed in white on Tropical Teal cardstock. I used a sentiment banner die to cut it out.

I adhered some of the images to a strip of acetate and then the acetate to the panel to make them look like they are floating.

That's it for today! Thank you so much for stopping by! Visit the MFT Blog for inspiring ideas from the design team and talented friends who will be joining us this month.

MFT - JULY TIPS AND TRICKS

Hello and welcome to the MFT - July Tips and Tricks.

My card today features the adorable Safari Friends stamp set.

Today, I'm sharing a simple tip that has proven useful time and time again. I love coloring cute images of critters and people in many different coloring mediums, and most of the time, I add blush/rosy cheeks to the images. In my opinion, it makes them look so much cuter! In the past, I've used whatever coloring medium I used to color the images to add rosy cheeks, but sometimes, I was not happy with the way they turned out (they were either too dark, too light, or not blended etc...).

Well, I've found a solution to my problem that's been working for me, which is the tip I'm sharing today. If you struggle with adding blush or rosy cheeks for whatever reason, try using Prismacolor NuPastel in Rose Pink to add the blush onto the images - regardless of the coloring medium (Copics, watercolor, colored pencils, etc.). It might be a personal thing, but I love the result that I get all the time. You can apply the pastel with a Q-tip (what I started out with) or a disposable sponge eye makeup applicator like the one you see in the picture above. You can pick up just a single stick of the pastel online or at your local art supply store (I bought mine from Blick).

All the products I used for this card are listed under supplies. Thank you for joining me today! Visit the MFT Blog for more Tips and Tricks from the participating Creative Team.
